The MACARONESIAN ROOF REPORT (MRR), produced under the MISTIC SEAS II project, was submitted for public consultation.
The competent authorities for the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) in Spain (Canary islands) and Portugal (Azores and Madeira) collaborate in the preparation of the document.
The MRR includes a description of the criteria and species evaluated together with the compilation of the results obtained during the pilot monitoring programs for birds, mammals and marine turtles in the three Macaronesian archipelagos (Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands), and include other additional data available from other government projects and programs. This document will serve as a basis for the competent authorities of Portugal and Spain to comply with the obligations of Article 17 of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (Directive 2008/56 / EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 17 June 2008 establishing a framework for Community action in the field of marine environmental policy).
The MRR public consultation process will be carried out in parallel in both countries. For this reason, this document is subject to a period of public consultation, in order to collect all the contributions that the interested parties wish to make to contribute to its improvement.
